These lads were footplatemen on the old locomotives but as Dr Beeching wielded his axe, their means of transport became museum pieces. This was taken in August 1963 Locomotive was named St Simon? . From left are: back – Mick Guy, Bill Harrison front – Albert Bellamy, Stan Robinson, Fred Burrows, Roy Veasey, Ken Baines, Bernard Nickerson,who went on to be a Station Supervisor at Grantham station, Tiny Lawson and Norman Ballaam. It was sent in by Stan’s daughter-in-law Shirley. Locomotive was named St Simon .
