My husband started work at 15 and worked every day of his life. When he did change jobs, he left one on the Friday and started the new one the following Monday.
His reward? A full state pension, and a few quid extra from some employers.
They other day I was speaking with a lady whose husband was not so keen on work. He often spent time on the dole.
His reward? To make up for any shortfall he gets pension credit which includes housing benefit, free optical and dental services and a free TV licence over 75 – the latter taken away from us.
Is it really worth being a consciencious worker?
