I was at the Alexandra Road depot at the weekend and noticed this sign.
In other words, if a chap spots a piece of metal I’m discarding because he can make use of it, he can’t have it.
Instead the council will take it and after allowing it to rust further, and thrown on to a scrap heap, then it may be shipped abroad for melting down.
That women in the TV programme Money For Nothing would get a shock if she turned up there!
I mentioned this to a friend, who said he saw a fellow discarding an old rocking chair down there some time ago and knew he could restore it for himself.
But the council man said ‘no’ and to prove a point broke it further as he threw it into the scrap wood section.
