Stan Matthews has been at it again.
Looking back to Grantham in the 1950s/60s his latest book is BMARCo Social Club.
It is a place where many a Granthamian of a certain age spent much of their youth.
Although essentially built for the use of employees, the Springfield Road building became the town’s favourite dance hall.
It had plenty of competition, including the Westgate Hall, the Barracks, Jeff’s (where jiving was banned) and Kontaks among many others.
Stan’s book is great of memories and facts – but don’t expect a glittering hardback. They are printed to order on Stan’s computer, which it’s fair to say is not state of the art.
But at £3 it is excellent vale for those who want reminding of special memories of this place.
