St Wulfram’s Church has reached the second round in the Twitter Premiership of great churches.
In the competition to find the country’s finest ecclesiastical architecture, It beat St Mary’s Recliffe, of Bristol by 52% to 48% in a straight knockout.
St Mary’s is one of few the few churches in the UK with a taller spire than St Wulfram.
The competition is organised by poet and public speaker Jay Hulme.
In the second round, Grantham’s finest faces Halifax Minster. Voting closes tomorrow.
Rector of St Wulfram’s Fr Stuart Crudduck said: “Thank you to all of you who voted and helped nudge St Wulfram’s into the next round!
“Another great opponent today!
“Let’s keep this going and get us through to the next round!”
