Having read Cllr Morgan’s letter regarding the proposed increase in parking restrictions on St Catherine’s Road, she obviously hasn’t tried to exit Welham Street to St Catherine’s Road on a Saturday and Sunday when vehicles are allowed to park on the right hand side from the Wharf Road/London Road junction.
I have had several near misses due to not being able to see vehicles approaching from that direction.
I fully support the extension of restrictions up to 6pm if they are not to be enforced at all times.
Similarly when the parking bays were in place, this stopped the flow of traffic as the road is not wide enough for two-way traffic with vehicles parked on either side of the road. These problems are still evident when vehicles with blue badge are parked on either side and/ or delivery vans are parked up inconsiderately.
I fully appreciate the potential increase in parking on other roads, as I suffered this situation when I lived elsewhere in Grantham.
Nobody has a right to park outside their property on a public road unless resident parking permits are introduced, as was mooted for Castlegate.
