Kesteven Rugby Club’s under 10 squad took to their saddles yesterday (Saturday) as they raced around the 17-mile Rutland Water circuit.
The boys are currently fund raising for their first rugby tour which takes place at Easter in Norfolk at the famous Holt Festival.
They were sporting their new team shirts sponsored by JMP Solicitors on the bikeride
They were accompanied on their bikeride by their coaches and completed the circuit in two and a half hours.
And were they tired? There was a family BBQ held at the end of the ride – followed by an impromptu rugby match with a group of players from the under 11s Oakham team they met in the car park!
They are planning further fund-raising events including a bag-pack at a Grantham supermarket.
Kesteven under 10s have also been selected by Leicester Tigers to perform the Guard of Honour for their match against London Irish on 27 February 2016.
This is also the first year where they will enter The Prima Tiger Cup tournament open to all under 10s clubs.
The tournament takes part over five festivals covering the Tigers Academy Region and beyond.
Through a series of festivals, teams compete to win a place to represent their club in the knockout stages held at Welford Road.
Attracting more than 70 entries each season the Prima Tiger Cup is the largest and most prestigious single age group competition in the rugby calendar.
