A LIGHT aircraft has crashed after crashing into the roof of a bungalow on a farm at Counthorpe, near Castle Bytham, south of Grantham.
The crash occurred at about 2:08pm today. The emergency services are on the scene including an air ambulance.
The pilot, a 73-year-old man from Thurnby, Leicestershire, was rescued by firefighters from Grantham and Corby Glen. He does not have life-threatening injuries BUT a leg injury and other cuts and bruises. He was airlifted to QMC Nottingham..
A 52-year-old tanker driver delivering fuel to the property received slight injuries caused while evading the collision and was taken to Peterborough Hospital.
The 61-year-old occupant of the bungalow who was with the tanker driver, was not injured.
The bungalow did not suffer major structural damage, other than to the roof and a bedroom.
Emergency services remain at the scene ensuring that the wreckage and fuel from the plane are made safe. Counthorpe Lane remains closed to traffic for emergency services to carry out their work.
In due course an investigation is likely to be launched by the Civil Aviation Authority.
