Among his later roles was president of Earlesfield Rangers FC and he is pictured here supporting the team at a six-a-side gala at Earlesfield Primary School, in 1970. They are, from left, back P. Swaffam, Rev Britton, Tommy Lawton and R. Brett; Middle Malc Bradley, J. Hart, R. Quincey, A. Fardell, K. Fardell, D. Key, and D. Thornton; Front T. Humphreys, M. Clay, D. Lee, Stef Michienew, M. Cooper, Colin Ironmonger and R. Bacon. Rangers were a successful youth team, winning the Escritt and Bennett Cup that year.
