"Listen to the experts" - Grantham mum's plea

I am writing to you as a concerned mother of 3 children at primary school in Grantham,.

I am constantly hearing of rising cases and deaths in my area and nationally due to a new strain of Covid-19…yet I am disgraced to hear that, yet again, government officials have ignored SAGE, the scientists who have expert knowledge on this virus.

SAGE have stated today, 30th December 2020, that unless the Country is put on a full lockdown we will see yet more AVOIDABLE deaths, it seems this has been completely ignored by government officials who I believe are now playing god with my children’s lives.

We are continuously hearing that this new strain is affecting children more, yet my area (Lincolnshire) has only been placed in tier 4, which, evidence shows, is making little to no difference in areas that have already been placed into this tier prior to Christmas.

Personally, I did not feel safe sending my children back to school in September but I was forced to do so, otherwise I would be subjected to fines from the local authority….if I was to directly put my children in harms way this would be deemed neglect – so how is it fair that you can make a decision, going against expert advice and guidance, putting my children at risk and this be ok??

It is simply not ok and now I’m left in a predicament as to whether I should send my children out in the open in a small classroom full of 30 children and several teachers (putting both teachers and children in harms way potentially) or facing fines.

SAGE have clearly stated that we need to be on a national lockdown as this peak is now higher than the previous peak which saw my children being kept home and safe for 6 months this year….so why are you continuing to ignore SAGE advice and putting my children and many others at risk???

I have attached screenshots of SAGE advice given to government officials today to back up my argument..

I want answers and I would appreciate it if you could give me them immediately!
