A Lincolnshire orthopaedic consultant has been awarded a visiting professorship from the University of Lincoln.
Mr Paul Lee, orthopaedic consultant at Grantham and District Hospital was awarded the accolade by the University, in part for his contribution towards the new MSc in Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine programme run by the University of Lincoln.
Programme Leader and Director for Education at the university, Dr Mark Smith said: “This is an exciting partnership between the University and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT), providing professional development pathways for healthcare professionals. Working closely with Professor Lee and his colleagues we have brought together a team of experts who will bring cutting edge approaches to practice in the field of musculoskeletal and sports medicine.”
With a career spanning 17 years, Professor Lee has been with ULHT since 2017 and has already set up the Grantham Trauma Society and is making great strides in developing education programmes.
This has also led to Professor Lee being appointed as the speciality associate specialist (SAS) tutor at the Trust, meaning he will be providing training for doctors of the future.
Professor Lee said, “We have a great opportunity to develop centres of excellence in Lincolnshire, Grantham hospital is in a perfect location to drive this development.”
He was also recently awarded with a certificate for the most downloaded research paper for work conducted around knee pain by The Surgery Journal.
