What you don’t see in the “older” photo that can be seen in the more “modern” photo is empty shops, you won’t see charity shops come to think of it.
Yes there has been some changes on the High Street and I don’t think we’ve witnessed the last of them either.
It certainly is a shadow of its former self, when I was young it was a thriving, busy thoroughfare with shops of every description along its length, that’s progress and on line shopping, high business rates and a general lack of imagination for you. All you seem to get now are Charity shops, Vape shops or some other “pop” up emporium selling “tat”
Like most things these days nothing has any permanency about it.
