The South Kesteven vice chairman, who used a racist phrase at a public meeting, has resigned his office.
Councillor Ian Stokes had apologised for the phrase he used while chairing a committee meeting at South Kesteven District Council on October 20.
He has also resigned from any committee but plans to retain his Peascliffe and Ridgeway seat.
South Kesteven District Council members will meet on Thursday, November 25. They are due to discuss the position of vice-chairman and the future chairman at that meeting.
An investigation by the monitoring officer concluded…
- Councillor Stokes makes a further apology
- That he attends equality and diversity training
- A public censure notice outlining then sanctions is put in place on his website profile.
