The doors being opened for the first time for Boots on High Street in 1966, from Darren Eaton. Pictured are, Mr. Hurley, Mr. K. Rickman, and Store Manager Mr. G. Peet. The original store had been further north on High Street, next door to the Angel and Royal, built in 1900, now occupied by The Halifax.
Where in Grantham was this? – answer
Here’s a photo from Chez Miller. The house was on St Catherine’s Road and was originally built by an ironmonger, Mr Martin.
For many years in the 80s & 90s it was St Catherine’s Day Nursery, but was abandoned in the late 1990s.
It fell into disrepair and was demolished around five years ago. Martins Court retirement homes are now on the site.

Taken about 35 years ago these ladies are Coles Cranes canteen staff at a retirement. Front left is Mrs Marjorie Rudd who was the canteen manager. Next to her is the first of two of the workers that are retiring, Gill Gostellow, then next to that lady is Elsie Holvey (front right) who is the other lady that is retiring, back left is ?,and back right is Ann Sutherland.

Where is this Grantham building? – The answer
Known as Elmer House The frontage has now been altered and extended and is now known as Elmer House.it was the home of Dr. Walter Hugh Paterson M.D., his wife and 10 children.
He was a doctor of medicine and surgeon at Grantham Hospital from 1880 until his death in 1907 taking over from his brother-in-law Dr Charles Robbs.
The view is looking from Elmer Street North to the junction of Finkin Street which is running from left to right along the bottom of the picture.
It was Escritt & Barrell estate agents office at one time, who extend and refaced it, adding the rounded corner.

THESE jolly fishermen had just enjoyed a day out at Bridlington, having hired a boat for the day.
The trip was jointly organised by BMARC and Steelweld in 1962.
Far left, with his catch of cod and haddock is Alan Chambers, then an 18-year-old apprentice at BMARC.
Others in the picture include Len Robinson and his son, John Oxley, Peter Jesson, Graham Knowles and Jimmy Houdle.
