July 1980 Joan Elsom and her Kidney Machine Fund Raising Committee handed over a cheque for £5,900 to Bill Maynard (ITVs Selwyn Froggit)Honorary President of the Childrens Kidney Machine Fund.
Mr. Werner Leuch,MD, presented the cheque in the works canteen at BMARCo Springfield Road works..
Bill Maynard was a genuinely funny and clumsy person having fallen up on to the stage he could not talk for laughing but eventually thanked the Fund-raising committee and all who had given so generously with both money and time.
