Following a report of two suspicious packages, found in the grounds of Lincoln Castle, the EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) have attended and carried out two controlled explosions. They are satisfied that the packages were not explosive devices.
The cordon has now been lifted.
A police investigation into how the packages came to be left or placed there continues..

Meanwhile, police are also working with three schools in Spalding following reports of threats received relating to alleged bombs on the premises.
They sent resources to each school to work with the Headteachers to establish the facts and to ensure the schools are safe. In the meantime, as a precautionary measure, the schools have been evacuated.
Police have now confirmed the threats were a hoax.
The schools affected are Spalding High School, St John the Baptist Primary and Monkshouse Primary.
