The pub on the top left is the Spotted Cow, my grandparents Mr & Mrs Hemstock, were proprietors at the time. They got bombed out and to go and live with friends for a few months. 1 of their sons was away serving in the Navy, another son, my dad had to stop with friends as he had to go to school. Another son who was also at home, they thought had been blown up, but he was eventually found under a huge door that the blast had blown over him. He had been outside at the back of the pub watching the plane circling over, had he been at the front of the pub he would have been caught in the blast and most probably killed.
