POLICE are appealing for witnesses as part of our investigation into the death of a man at Woolsthorpe.
The body of Newark man Andrew North, 50, was found in the canal near to the Dirty Duck pub, on Wednesday, December 5.
His death is currently being treated as unexplained but not suspicious. The results of a post-mortem suggest that Andrew drowned.
We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw him after 2pm on Monday December 3, or during the next two days, or anyone who might have given him a lift to the Dirty Duck pub.
Andrew left work at Talbot Chemicals in Newark at around 2pm on Monday, December 3 and at around 2.25pm he walked in to The White Swan pub at the junction of North Gate and Queens Road.
He left shortly afterwards, leaving by the back door that took him onto Queens Road. He is believed to have visited the Kings Arms, on Kirkgate, and Belams Bar, on Cartergate, later that afternoon.
We do not where he went from that point.
Officers are also trying to establish how Andrew reached the Dirty Duck pub at Woolsthorpe. We would like to speak to anyone who may have given him a lift to the area.
He has been described as white, slim to medium build, tall, and wearing dark blue clothing: heavy-duty workwear trousers, a high-visibility tabard with no sleeves and a striped dark and light beanie hat.
If you saw Andrew at any point after 2pm on December 3, or during the following two days, please contact 101 and quote Incident 255 of 5 December.
