An investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in Grantham.
Officers were called to a property on Chestnut Grove just before 11.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 8 April) where the body of a woman was discovered. The female victim is believed to be 23 years old. A formal identification has not taken place. Next of kin have been informed. A post mortem examination is due to be carried out later. A local man, aged 30, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
The 30 year old local man remains in custody. A 12-hour Superintendents extension has been granted which extends the normal 24 hour custody limit to 36 hours, this is to allow the Senior Investigating Officer more time to conduct his inquiries.
A scene guard is in place at the property while investigating officers carry out inquiries at the address.
