Staff, Trustees and Panel members of the Bishop of Lincoln’s Social Justice Fund would like to announce the re-launch this important funding scheme that will offer grants of up to £5,000 to projects that tackle issues of social injustice across Greater Lincolnshire.
Priority will be given to projects that deal with the root causes of injustice, rather than just the symptoms. The fund is available to charitable groups across the County, although the panel would like to champion smaller, volunteer led and local faith based groups that need funding to deliver critical interventions to support existing and emerging needs.
The next closing date for receipt of completed bids is on 14 August 2021 and then on 14 January, 14 May and 14 September in each year. It is anticipated approximately £20,000 will be allocated in each round to worthwhile projects.
Applicants will need to provide clear evidence they’re able to deliver outcomes relating to one (or more) or the Fund priorities:
Social cohesion – projects contributing to strong and cohesive communities (thematic or place based);
Isolation – activities that encourage residents to become more active, feel less isolated in their community or raise aspirations/reduce isolation;
Poverty – applications that tackle poverty in its various forms (eg homelessness, debt issues, food and fuel poverty, support and advice).
Previous grants have supported the cost of: meals for homeless and vulnerable people; training for mentors to help families deal with crisis; drop-in facilities for those who are lonely or isolated; weekly support sessions for people with addictions; activities for people with dementia and their carers; community gardening groups.
These are simply examples of successful projects over five years and if you’re interested in applying and want to discuss an application before submitting it, please contact the Grants Team at the Foundation on 01529 305825.
The process is straight forward and our team are on hand to answer questions, give advice or simply have a chat. To download the Fund Criteria and other documentation, please visit the grants page at lincolnshirecf.co.uk.
Sue Fortune, CEO at the Foundation says:- “Now, more than ever, as we begin to move into a post-Covid environment and beyond, it’s crucial that grant funding reaches voluntary and community organisations operating across our various communities. The sector has shown incredible adaptability, reacting quickly to help those who need it at a time of crisis. Those needs will continue to change over time and organisations will have to be prepared to respond in a timely way. Being able to access funding quickly from a local grant maker will ensure this process a little easier.”
