Ryan Caven, a pupil in St Andrew’s Class at Ambergate Sports College, represented the East Midlands Learning Disability Tennis Team at the Special Olympics in Sheffield this year.
The event took place this week against players from all over the UK.
Ryan won ‘gold’ in both the singles and doubles tournaments!
Ryan’s mum, Sarah, said: “Ryan first started playing tennis in November 2014, so this is a fantastic achievement to be doing so well within just two and a half years of learning the sport. I’m so proud of him for bringing home a gold medal in both!”
A former pupil from GANF also took part in the Special Olympics.
Aidan Bennett, also playing tennis, won ‘silver’ in the singles and ‘gold’ in the doubles.
